NAGA

PROCESS

To make my dress, I needed to choose a snakes skin fabric, sewn  around 25 snakes, stuffed them and them put everything together as a dress.

Choosing my snakes skin fabric.

The first snakes I sewn. It was a hard time for me as it was the first time that I was using a sewing machine and I had to learn how it worked but I made it.
The only problem with this fabric is that it was to thick for the machine so I had to change it.

My army of snakes!

I wanted to my snakes to have eyes, so I sewn most of it by hand but it took too much time so I came up with a solution: SUPER GLUE.

Here is what my final dress is supposed to look like, but I still need to figure out a way to attach everything together!!!!

Croquis and color palette

For my avatar armor I was inspired by the Medusa head.

I came up with three croquis of dresses all made out of snakes from different sizes. The most complicated part will be to create the snakes with  textile, wire and  and then stuff them.

With my group we created a color palette to link all of our garment into a collection.  I want my garment to be in the darkest colors, probably black and green.

Group Post

Yamāntaka, यमान्तक, the god who terminate and transcend death. He has 34 arms, blue skin, with crown made by skull on his bullhead, yellow/orange eyebrow which represents fire. His first name literally means the conqueror of death. His full name is Shri Bhagavan Yamantaka. Shri means sancility and auspicious. Bhagavan means misery and horror. He’s duty is to conquer the death, fight against evil, and protect the goodness. The new form of the avatar is even more horrific and deadly. Different elements are use to symbolize the avatar, in this case mainly fire. But also the other nature elements are exposed in the work, altogether; earth, air, water, fire. When Yama decided to kill everyone in Tibet, he transformed himself into Yamantaka, similar to Yama but ten times more powerful and horrific.

The interesting part of Yamantaka is how he got no fear to death. This could be something to think about when ‘The fear of death is worse than death itself.’ Live our lives. Our life questions and concept are based on the cycle of life and death. Life and death could all be a start or an end. When we are aware of the importance of life, we find a balance to live the best of our lives, without fear.

My snake avatar !

The classical fourth elements (earth, air, fire, water) reflect the essential part and principles of which anything consists. We decided to focus on this theme as it omnipresent in Eastern Religious Mythology.
Earth is everything that is solid, resistant, everything that gives us form.

I choose my character as a part of the Earth element as I am a down-to-earth person and my avatar will give me some more strength and resistance. My avatar is a snake, a long limbless reptile that is capable a long extension.  The snake represents  life force and energy. Snakes are symbol of healing power and transformation. As my avatar, the snake would be a spiritual guider about life changes and transformations and promote my personal growth. The snakes would give me some strength to go further and overcome my failures in life and would guide me in transitions between two stages of my life. He would also defend myself from the others with is poison.

10 adjectives about my avatar:

-       Strong
-       Healer
-       Energetic
-       Fearless
-       Fast
-       Clever
-       Poisonous
-       Tenacious
-       Heroic
-       wise
